| Description of Services: | The SARP Limay facility is currently involved with a variety of the industrial waste treatment and recycling operations, including the following: - Incineration of organic wastes. This process is a thermal destruction process for organic liquids and solids. Off-gases are treated in the on-site treatment system, and incinerator slag and fly ash are stabilized on-site prior to off-site land disposal. There are currently two incinerator units, and a 3rd unit is under construction and expected to be operational in late 2005
- Evapo-incineration/thermal treatment of hydrocarbon and other oily wastes. This process is a thermal separation process by evaporation, which produces an off-gas that is treated with the on-site air emission control system, and the condensed liquid concentrate is incinerated
- Physical/chemical treatment of inorganic wastes. This process involves the neutralization of acids and alkalis, chemical precipitation, or decanting/separation. The metal hydroxide filter cake is stabilized on-site then sent off-site for landfill disposal, and the liquid effluent is treated in the on-site wastewater treatment plant
- Stabilization of ultimate residues. This process consists of the cold transformation/solidification/stabilization of the fly ash, incinerator slag, physical-chemical treatment sludges, and other waste residues using binding minerals as principal reagents. The material is sent off-site for land disposal
- Resin Regeneration. This process uses ion exchange for regeneration of resins
- Small Container Processing, including the sorting and consolidation of wastes for on-site incineration, evapo-incineration, or physical-chemical treatment. Also includes consolidation of certain wastes for off-site transfer and treatment/recycling/disposal
- Wastewater Treatment Process. This process treats the wastewater from the physical-chemical treatment process, as well as storm water (if contaminated) using reagents for detoxification and neutralization, followed by decanting, dewatering of sludge and on-site stabilization, and final water discharge
- Fluorescent Light Bulb Recycling. This process includes the machine processing of fluorescent light tubes and the residual collection for off-site recycling of the glass, metal caps, and phosphor powder
- Cryogenic Segregation. This process uses cryogenics to segregate wastes and packaging materials to promote further soiled packaging material recycling. This operation is currently under construction and will commence operations in Summer 2005.
